"The ECTS framework helps students and universities define and understand the workload that comes with lectures and study programmes. "

Each LEAP course carries 5 ECTS to indicate workload. For the current pilot year, these ECTS are not formally recognised towards a degree. Recognition may be possible at some EU universities in future runs; check with your institution.

Even if not formally recognised, listing the respective ECTS on your CV shows relevant training and initiative.

The courses are delivered entirely online in an asynchronous format. This means there are no in-person classes, no required live sessions, or fixed lecture times. Lectures are pre-recorded and supported by presentations, readings, and activities. Progress is self-paced within each module, i.e., learners may engage with materials at any time. The only fixed points are the due dates for graded assignments; graded assignments must be submitted by the stated deadlines.

Assessment overview

  • Weekly graded activities: (graded quizzes and hands-on coding exercises) short, lower-stakes tasks to assess each topic
  • Two end-of-course assessments: 1) a final project applying what you’ve learnt, 2) an online portfolio (brief, follows the project) showcasing selected outcomes. This activity will help you learn how to present your work—something employers value.

Minimum passing grade (for each course): The minimum passing grade is 70% of the aggregate marks across all graded assessments.

Ungraded practice activities: There will also be practice activities throughout the courses. Practice activities will be ungraded (they will not carry any marks), but learner participation will be mandatory. In other words, you are required to engage with and submit all practice activities, but your performance on them will not affect your course mark in any way.
